A T1 line consists of 24 individual channels, each of which supports 64Kbits per second. Each 64Kbit/second channel can be configured to carry voice and/or data traffic. The latest T1 products even offer dynamic allocation of the channels and can be used for both voice and data (typically with the priority given to voice).
